- Melting Point: 3221.6°F(1772°C).
- The name platinum originates from the Spanish word "platina" meaning "little silver".
- Discovered by: Antonio de Ulloa y de la Torre-Girault in 1735
- Platinum is one of the most precious metals in the world.
- You can find platinum in: Jewelry, Petroleum, Catalytic converters (Some kind of converter in a car) and some coins.

1)Platinum was first mistaken as silver. The Spaniards named the metal "platina," or little silver, when they first encountered it in Colombia.
2)Ruthenium, rhodium, palladium, osmium, iridium, and platinum are a group of elements of elements referred to as The Platinum Group Metals (PGM).
3)Platinum is the rarest and heaviest of the precious metals.
4)All the Platinum ever mined would fit in an average sized living room.
5)Every year about 133 tons of Platinum are mined whereas about 1,782 tons of Gold are mined every year.
