This is Julius Caesar Scalinger who apparently saw platinum in Central America in 1557.
The Element's First Findings
Platinum's first reference is in 1557 in Central America by Julius Caesar Scaliger. Apparently he saw platinum when he was in Central America. The natives there had learn to work with platinum and they called it platina which means little silver in english. The first full findings of platinum were in 1735 by Antonio de Ulloa. He was the Spanish Military leader at that time and he was in South America when he reported how it was used and mined.
Platinum's Properties
Platinum has many physical features such as the color which is silvery-white. Platinum is also ductile, (it can be used for wires) malleable, (platinum can be hammered into thin sheets) the melting point is 1772 C0, and it's boiling point is 3827 C0. The importance of platinum is that it can be used for many different useful things such as catalysis.
Platinum's Uses
Platinum can be used for many things such as jewelry or wire. It can also be used for cubicles and vessels in labs. Thermocouples ( a device to use temperature) also have platinum and so does lab equipment. As I said before catalysis have platinum as well as dentistry. Coating of missiles noses have platinum too.
3 Interesting Facts
Platinum is a very strong, rare, and hard to mine element.
Platinum is found in jet engine fuel nozzles.
Queen Elizabeth's crown frame of crown was made out of platinum. It's the only British crown made from platinum.

These are the protons and neutrons of a platinum atom. (Not electrons because they are the same number as the protons.)
